Cynthia Spry, RN, MA, MSN, CNOR, has been a perioperative nurse for more than 25 years, with seven and a half years as an OR educator and five years as a director of surgical services. Currently she is an international clinical consultant for Advanced Sterilization Products, a Johnson & Johnson Company. In her present position she provides consultation and education in sterilization, disinfection, and infection control. She is a past president of the Association of periOperative Registered Nurses (AORN). In 2002 Spry received the association's highest award, the Award for Excellence in Perioperative Nursing, for her achievements in practice, education, and research. Spry has many contributions to nursing publications and is the author of two widely used nursing texts. She also has extensive national and international lecturing experience.
