Goal: After this course, students should be able to define the effect of improper sterilization on the potential for causing healthcare-acquired infections, and describe proper sterilization methods to prevent infection.

Objectives:
1. Discuss the current threat of healthcare-associated infections (HAIs).
2. Describe the role of contact transmission in the spread of HAIs. 3. Identify strategies used to prevent contact transmission of HAIs.
